Out and About with a Camel Friend

Who is that woman with the drab outfit?
The kitchen where the tea was made.
Milking the goat for tea.
A delicious cuppa!
After many hours of waiting in the grubby Agra station followed by a very slow train from Agra to Jaipur, we finally arrived at our inn at about 3am. The Savista was a lovely place, very warm and welcoming. It's a bit outside of Jaipur, on the edge of a small village. After resting and restoring ourselves with a few hours of sleep and an ample breakfast, we set off on a camel cart ride arranged by our host through the surrounding countryside. We saw small farms, lots of birds, beautifully dressed women, and adorable children. Despite linguistic barriers, we were welcomed warmly by the locals. At one family compound we had fun photographing the kids and then showing them their pictures. After one of the goats was milked, we were all treated to delicious Rajasthani tea! It was a truly memorable day.

What beautiful pictures! The colors are just amazing. I spent 3 months in Udaipur and loved it. As I sit here at my office dressed in black, I am enjoying looking at the beautiful clothes Indian women wear--much more cheerful!

These are just terrific pics and bring back wonderful memories of that incredible day!! As we interacted with these good people, I was again reminded of how much we are all alike in so many ways across the world-they so love their children and were obviously especially thrilled to have Ashwin and Priya in their midst! While you guys obviously make great third world Docs--come home to us!!
Love, Mom
