Lazy Days on the Backwaters

The last several days of our trip around India with Nana and Grandpa (or 'Gramps', as Priya likes to call him) were spent relaxing in the backwaters of Kerala. We were on the shore of Lake Vembanad, the second largest lake in India, and adjacent to a large bird sanctuary. At the lovely Taj Garden Kumakaron (where, fortuitously we were upgraded three times - first to a luxury villa, then a luxury villa with private pool, then right off the resort onto a houseboat), we enjoyed fishing, bird watching, swimming, playing cards, biking, and just kicking back and relaxing.

This just looks so idyllic! Are the fish that Ashwin is catching the same ones pictured on the table in a previous entry? Also, I'm glad to hear you like Slumdog Millionaire--we all went to see it, loved it, and cheered when it won all of the awards.
Miss you all on May,
Mary Jo, Rick, and Michael

Hi~ We're Jen's classmates from Orono, ME. Jen told us that she is dogsitting your dog while you are away. Phoenix is doing fine. We want to know the name of the rabbit in the picture with Priya. Is it your pet in India?

Thanks to all of you for your comments - especially Room 8 - it's great to hear from you! To answer the questions
regarding the bunnies, no they are not our pets. The hotel we stayed at had about 10 bunnies, which they would let out on the lawn during the day, and put in pens overnight. They left vegetable sticks out for the guests to feed the bunnies, who were very friendly. They also had geese and ducks. Priya and Ashwin would also like you to know that there was a playground, bikes, fishing, paddleboats, crouquet, badmitton and swimming at the hotel. The game in the picture that Ashwin and Priya are playing is called carom. It's a little bit like pool, but with a small table and flat markers instead of balls - you hit the markers with your fingers and try and shoot them in the pockets.

regarding the fish - Ashwin released the fish he caught, but the fish on the table were the same type.
